The Complexity Trap: Why Your First Automation Should Be Boring
I see it all the time: an entrepreneur gets excited about AI and automation, and they immediately try to build a "Skynet" for their business. They want a system that writes their content, closes their sales, and makes their coffee.
Then, they get overwhelmed by the complexity, hit a technical wall, and give up. They go back to their manual spreadsheets, convinced that "automation is too hard."
This is the Complexity Trap.
The truth is, the most powerful automations in my business—and the ones I install for my clients—are often the most "boring" ones. They aren't flashy. They don't make headlines. But they work every single time.
Here is a relatable business tip for you: Start with your "Minimum Viable Automation" (MVA).
Don't try to automate your entire marketing funnel on day one. Instead, look for the one task that makes you sigh every time you have to do it.
Is it copying a lead's info from a form to your CRM?
Is it sending the same "Welcome" email for the 50th time?
Is it manually creating a Zoom link for every booking?
That "boring" task is your MVA. When you automate just that one thing, you don't just save five minutes. You remove a "micro-stressor" from your brain. You prove to yourself that the system works.
As an Augmented Entrepreneur, you don't build a giant machine all at once. You build a series of small, reliable engines. One day, you look up and realize that while everyone else is still "hustling" through their manual tasks, you have a fully automated infrastructure that supports your growth without you lifting a finger.
My question for you today: What is the most "boring," repetitive task on your plate right now that you would love to never see again?
Hit reply and let me know. I’m looking for two more founding members who are ready to escape the complexity trap and start building their MVA in my 6-week program.
To building smarter,
